As a member of the New York Yankees, hitting his 701st career home run off of pitcher Elden Auker of the Detroit Tigers, at Navin Field, Detroit, Michigan, 14 July 1934. Watching at left are Tigers catcher Ray Hayworth and home plate umpire Bill McGowan.
