'Re-Union of the Secesh-Democratic Plan.' Cynical cartoon of the Democratic efforts to negotiate the end of the secession of the Confederacy. Jefferson Davis passes off a heavy burden of 'Confederate Debt,' 'Federal Debt,' and slavery to Brother Jonathan, while still holding a whip and chain. Lithograph by Currier & Ives, 1862.
