U.S. AIRMAIL, 1935.
The final flight of a Pitcairn Mailwing-7, the last open cockpit airplane to carry U.S. airmail on contract schedule, 16 October 1935. The Pitcairn Mailwing-7 had a mail capacity of 550 pounds and a top speed of 110 mph. Behind it is an Eastern Airlines DC-2 14-passenger airplane that had a top speed of 215 mph.
